Rainouts, Playoff Makeups and Rescheduling Policy
Updated for the Fall 2024 Season
Please understand that the Lynbrook Roller Hockey league is adamant about completing it's entire Fall and Spring seasons (both regular season and playoffs) by Christmas break in the Fall, and by mid-June for the Spring. The league is aware that many of its players participate in other sports, activities and other leagues outside of LRHL. The fact that our players have the opportunity to play in other sports or leagues is great. However, many times situations arise where players playing several sports or in several leagues, run into a scheduling conflict where they are scheduled in different leagues on the same day or time slot.
Please be aware that the LRHL does not keep track of other league or sports schedules. We are only concerned about completing OUR seasons. The league's thought process concerning a scheduling conflict with a player, is that the player has to decide whether to they want to play their scheduled game for the LRHL or participate in another league or sport.
Any scheduled of games by the LRHL that ends up conflicting with another league's schedule is completely unintentional. Please do no request a game to be changed, the only changes made to the schedules will be weather related cancellations.
rainouts, playoff make-ups and rescheduling policy
- Our official league schedule will be followed as posted on our website. The LRHL will not alter our schedule because of a player or coaches conflict with other sports or activities.
- Please do not email the league or contact any Board Member to request any schedule changes unless the circumstance is extenuating
- All rained out or cancelled games will be rescheduled as soon as possible, in a time slot when that division typically plays, but that cannot be guaranteed.
- If it so happens that inclement weather cancels too many games to the point where the start of the playoffs may be delayed, the LRHL will begin scheduling games on Saturday's in an effort to try and catch up.
- Every reasonable attempt will be made to clear the playing surface of rain or snow/ice for games to begin on time. On days where it is obvious that the playing surface needs to be cleared or dried, coaches and parents are encouraged to come to the rink early, if possible, and assist in rink maintenance. This will ensure all games can begin on time following a weather event.
- During the regular season, regardless of division, a game will be suspended if the playing surface becomes too wet or unplayable. Any game that is rained out or cancelled at any point after TWO (2) periods of play will be considered final, regardless of the score, and posted accordingly in the standings. Any game that is rained out or cancelled before TWO (2) periods of play have been completed, regardless of score, will be rescheduled to a later date and replayed in its entirety.
- During the playoffs, any game that is suspended due to inclement weather at any point will be considered "paused", regardless of the score or game time that has passed. Once rescheduled to a later date, the game will pick up from the point of suspension and then completed until a winner is determined.
- On days or evenings when the weather is expected to be questionable, always check our website for the most up-to-date game information. There may be some cases where for example, a 6:15pm game may be cancelled, while the 7:30pm and 8:45pm games will still be played as scheduled. Always check our website and TeamSnap for any game update notices.
